OK here are a couple of fun bird facts that you might find interesting.
You are living in the mountains. It is peaceful and serene. You love the cool mountain air. It is spring and wonderful. Suddenly you are awakened by the drumming of a woodpecker on your gutters. You think whats up with this? These are pretty dumb birds. The gutters are metal !! Well the woodpeckers, males, are drumming on your gutter because the noise is really loud. They are using this tactic to attract females. Who says beating your own drum doesn't work?
You are driving down the road and are treated to wild Turkeys , males, displaying their feathers. This is obvoiusly done to attract mates. But then you notice the males are on the road and the females are in the woods. What's up with this? Well it turns out that the males can scrape their feathers on the roads and make a more attractive sound to the females.
