North Georgia Volunteers

The Hyper local challenge focuses on our respective areas .  People make up areas. So this post is about some people and what they are doing. The folks below are working to be certified wild land fire fighters. We are in Fact Fire fighters already but have spent time and money to be volunteers in our North Georgia Mountains.

From left to right we have Mike , me, Joyce and Al. So part of being local is giving back to our community. We worked to put out a real fire that day and are now certified for Wild land fires. We are even in the Federal System but I do not think I will be traveling out of State. 

There are many things that make a local community great. I have posted about wild life and scenic views. I have posted about folks working in Marble and what we do up here. But at the end of the day it is about the Spirit of the Mountains as exemplified by its people

Today in The North Georgia Mountains

It is sunny and going to be 50 today here in the North Georgia mountains. I mention this for a reason. Yesterday and the day before I posted great ice pictures. A couple of weeks ago I posted some pictures after our winter storm. But today it is great

North Georgia gives you mountain living and 4 seasons. Byt the bitter and lasting cold and snow are not a feature of where we live. In the summer at my elevation , about 2500 feet, we may have used the A/C the total of 1 week. Weather wise North Georgia gives you mountain living with b4 seasons. None of which are too extreme.

Many think of Georgia in terms of the I-95 corridor and do not realize that we have great mountain communities. Come explore and you will be very pleasantly surprised.

The North Georgia Mountains today

Today in the North Georgia Mountains it is chilly and a bit windy. The air is crisp and clean. Even though the leaves are off the trees it is still wonderful to look out at nature. The point here is if you are looking for a mountain retreat or a place to live full time consider the North Georgia Mountains. Why?

1 We have great gated communities like Big Canoe and Bent Tree.  These communities offer a full experience of nature and amenities.

2 We have rural land if you decide to go green acres

3 We have great schools and medical facilities.

4  Being on the Southern end of the Mountains we have milder winters than they do further North. We still have cool summers. I ran my A/C for about 9 days this summer.

Most of all, all this can be had at really affordable prices. Farm land can start as low as 8,000 an acre for tracts usually above 5 acres. Homes on 1 acre  start at 140,000. This is for quality homes and good land. Now in gated communities you may pay a little more.

Bottom line here is that North Georgia is a great place to live that will not cost you an arm and a leg. How long we stay this way , who knows. But for now we are a great place to be if you want, peace quiet and beautiful healthy mountain living.

Look Out Mountain on The Georgia Side Photos

Look at these pictures. Why aren't you calling me to live here? Look Out Mountain is a beautiful patch work of valleys and mountains. Since the Mountain is in many places a plateau you can have a rare combination of pasture land at elevation and mountains viewsa view on Look out Mountain

You can be minutes from the great shops and Aquarium in Chattanooga or really close to many Mountain Destinations
