Big Canoe Oktoberfest

This past Saturday was our Big Canoe Oktoberfest. People come from all around to have a great time. I worked part time in the Fire Department booth but mainly walked around and saw all my friends and neighbors.

The big text are for all the folks eating great German food and maybe having a beer or two. On the left were the food vendors and on the right all the exhibitors. As you can see the event was pretty crowded. We Big Canoers love a party. In the back there were fun things for kids to do.

The event was sponsored buy our own POA, (Property Owners Association) Admission was free. You can see folks walking around and having a good time. The German band played through out the event.

Many read about Big Canoe. I post deer , mountain, and bear pictures. Big Canoe is all that and a lot of fun as well.

Big Canoe October fest

Saturday Oct 8 is the Big Canoe October fest. You can come here right from the Marble Festival in Jasper the week before !!!There will be plenty of food, music , vendors and craft exhibits. It is also a great way to get a flavor of Big Canoe. You all have my picture here on ActiveRain. I will be there either walking around or n the BCERT Booth as a volunteer fire fighter. If you are up in our great mountains stop by and say hello. it would be great to meet some Rainers. The event starts at 10 am and goes pretty much all day. I'll hoist a Stein of great beer with you.

OCTOBERFEST IN BIG CANOE and THE CLEVELAND LOAD

Yes it is Friday of a long week. Tomorrow is Oktoberfest here in Big Canoe. I will be working in the BCERT booth. I think we all need to give back to our communities in what ever way we can. When we start a sentence by saying " somebody needs to do something.... " look in a mirror. That somebody should include you. have a great October weekend all.

The Cleveland load is something I learned about in Firefighting class yesterday. it is a way to laod and pack hoses. it is a relatively new thing. Now whyIi am blogging about it is simple. Moving hoses around is a big pain in fire fighting. But this is done in a couple of ways for ever. Along comes somebody who looks at this differently and devises a system that is so easy and works so well you just watch this and say DUH ! Keep an open mind in your business, be innovative and listen to others. Even things that you have been doing "forever" can be changed for the better

Big Canoe Octoberfest

Octoberfest came to Big Canoe this weekend. There were 70 booths open for business. There was a live band and plenty of good food. The weather was a concerned , but aside from the passing sprinkle it was a good day

There were a lot of tents set up with great stuff to buy.

Fall Theme

As it is fall the theme was set by displays in front of the festival. It was fun for young and old

I had booth duty . Big Canoe first response and fire had a booth. We have an adopt a fire hydrant program as well as explaining what goes on in Big Canoe. We are a great mountain community where people roll up their sleeves to help each other out as well as party at a great Octoberfest
