Why I think living in the North Georgia Mountains is great

This week I have been posting about snow in the North Georgia Mountains. Yes we do have a winter here. Here are some of the photos I took of the snow I did not post earlier this weekThe crystal Palace

This is Thursday just after sunrise. It is a crystal Palace as frozen fog descended over night. It really is quite something to see.

So here is the last shot off into the distance looking another way. But today Sunday, 1 week later, we are sunny in the 50's and tomorrow we will be in the 60's. This type of weather to me is what makes the North Georgia Mountains unique and great. Yes we have have had more snow than usual this year so far and it lasts a week. Snowed in !!!

Once again we in North Georgia are snowed in. It looks like a couple of days before we get out. It is so beautiful. I will post some shots tomorrow. But rather than despair I am working full steam. I am calling folks who want to do business this year. This is a good thing. Why? Because they are trapped at home as well. So we are all talking and sharing our snow stories. I am also doing a bunch of paper work and web site work. All in all I am more productive now than I am usually. For my fellow ActiveRainers, Big Canoe ,Bent Tree,Jasper, and North Goergia freinds who are stuck in the snow. Use the time . We will be back out soon

Snowed in Day 3

Today will be the last day of being snowed in. Some time today I should be able to get my car. But I did my 30 seconds, (See almost Christmas blog) and I am good. What I have been able to do is catch up on tons of paper work.  I am also getting very organized. so I think I will by tomorrow be able to roar into 2011. My new mantra is , : When life hands you house stranding snow, Make a snow man "!!!

Snow Day in North Georgia (Pictures)

Yesterday around 5  o'clock in the afternoon I was talking to a friend. "Hey," I said, "this snow isn't so bad". I was then told that the real snow was not coming till later last night. So we woke up this morning to this.

The haze you see around the sun is snow coming down. It looks cold and guess what it is cold

So today is a snow day. The high today is only supposed to get into the 20's. Normal high for us this time of year is in the 50's. Whatever happened to global warming ? Actually and ironically this type of weather is a function of global warming. Strong storms whether hot or cold move further South due to global warming. So I guess we have global warming to thank for a winter wonderland and cold weather ! ? Some how that is tough to reconcile. But it is pretty to see.

It is snowing !!!!

Not ready for a picture yet but we have snow today! I have lived in North Georgia for 23 years. I have never seen a white Christmas yet. Now it could be in the 70's on Christmas or.......

If the weather keeps up like this I will be splitting more fire wood today and taking snow pictures tomorrow. I cannot imagine folks in the North who get shut down over snow. For us it is only a day . I am rambling a bit but it is so exciting to see the first snow fall. Also by tomorrow it will likely be melted. That is what makes it so great
