When folks think of Big Canoe they think of many things. But not usually old log Cabins
This home was built in the 1830's. It started life in South Georgia . It was moved and reassembled in Big Canoe. The beauty of this cabin is that it is being used today as a vacation getaway by the current owner.
The cabin is special as it features a preachers porch. A preachers porch was a place for traveling preachers to stay the night . Today we call this a front porch. Preachers back then moved from town to town preaching the word and making a living.
In some ways we see tent revivals today and they are the modern version of this tradition. Of course this tradition goes back to the Apostles who were some of the original preachers .
The cabin has electric and a bedroom was added to back. But all in all the setting is great and can you imagine the feeling of spending the night in this 1830's home !!!

That is a great getaway cabin. Makes me want to go camping this weekend.
