Where will all the 200 economists that Shelby from Alabama is holding up be if we do nothing and the economy collapses. It is really interesting watching the drama unfold. The Democrats are supporting the President more than his own party !!!. You could not do theater this good.
We know something must be done. But the Wamu experience shows =us that there is money in the market to buy up fallen companies. I am pleased with the way Congress did not rush to judgment this week. I hope that what comes out of this is a good strong package that helps us all. I am going to be optimistic.
It's nice to say let them all fail . The Wall Street folks caused this, so let them fry. But what are the consequences? I would like to see them all squirm too. But if I end up next to them in the pan because of the fallout I am not so sure I will be as eager to see them all fry.

Good post. It is good that some in congress had the vision to oppose a bill that was literally thrown together. Let's hope they can pass something meaningful. And, let's all remember who the heroes and villains are in congress and kick out the bad ones when the time comes.
I think we are all with you. Hope it works well.
Charlie, I do not have an answer, I've been waiting for the magic plan that makes sense, Unfortunately, I don't believe in magic... It's the golden parachutes that kill me...
great points , we clearly need something, since there is no magic plan, lets at least not further burden taxpayers with wall street mistakes, ... this needs to allow main street to make money if the banks pay back the loans
I, too, eargerly await a plan that makes sense. Doing nothing is not an option, unfortunately. I've got visions of standing in soup lines with my kids................
Charlie,
Some politicians thrive on bad news...we should identify them and vote them out!!! Thanks, Fran
I am eager to see what Congress comes up with. I am so sick and tired of the BS as usual on Capitol Hill...
